In over a century, the “black wine” of
the Tsar of all Russias has lived through a whole spectrum of experiences.
In becoming more democratic, the wines adopted a rather rough and ready,
“old style”, of which the principal virtue was their aptitude
for long ageing.
But fortunately, times are changing in the Quercy : whilst consumers are
becoming younger, these wines are reaching a higher plane and regaining
their original black colour.
