he Fronton appellation is one of the oldest. Located between Toulouse and Montauban, it benefits from the joint influence of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, with good sunshine (2,100 hours per annum) and low rainfall (650mm per annum), which make it a zone for top quality wine production. The originality of this appellation comes from its unique grape variety, Negrette. Imported by the knights of Saint-Jean-de-Jerusalem from Cyprus, it continues to be used only in the Fronton area. Capricious and selective, it nevertheless produces aromatic and well-structured wines. Negrette makes up 50 to 70% of the varieties authorised in the appellation. Other quality varieties are also planted : Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Syrah, Cot, Gamay, ….
