he
wine region of Bergerac lies in the heart of the Perigord, in the region
of Aquitaine. The region covers 93 villages and 28,600 acres spread out
on both banks of the Dordogne river.
Among the more famous of its 12 appellations are the AOCs for Bergerac rouge,
Côtes de Bergerac red and sweet white, Monbazillac, Bergerac dry white
and Bergerac rosé.
The region benefits from a climate largely under ocean influence with quite
warm and stable temperatures during the vine’s period of growth. As
far as soils are concerned, they offer the ideal geological conditions to
foster a great wine region.
